Description

Available in 111 languages, the Savvy program was created to help at least 100,000 unemployed professionals around the world transition into entrepreneurship as a way to reduce global unemployment that the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent macroeconomic downturn have broadened. Savvy does this by equipping them with the relevant knowledge, skills, resources, and support network to build sustainable, innovative, and profitable impact-driven businesses. So far, we’ve selected and trained over 11,000 individuals in 168 countries, who have gone on to build 6,000+ businesses across diverse sectors. Every year, Savvy awards $3,000 to 3 Savvy Fellows through the Savvy Prize, which recognizes and supports Fellows who are solving some of the world's most pressing problems through innovative and sustainable ways. By 2030, we hope to have trained and supported 100,000+ Fellows to build successful businesses—directly employing 1,000,000+ individuals; creating wealth for themselves and those they employ, and improving the economy of their nations (and the world). For 12-32 weeks, participants are trained in business development, business communications, and product design. While learning, they take interactive quizzes to test their understanding. They are also offered mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, to have a better understanding of their chosen industry. Backed by the Roddenberry Foundation, the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation, the International Telecommunication Union, and Because International, Savvy has been recognized as one of the most impactful and scalable innovations in education by HundrED.org.
