Desert Rose, Adenium obesum, is a caudiciform succulent that has an enlarged base, called a caudex, and thick branches that hold water in times of drought. The leaves, however, are not thick like most succulents. Some varieties drop their leaves in winter; others are evergreen. Its drought-tolerance makes this a wonderful container plant for those of us who may forget to water our houseplants.
